Western Turner Conveyor Auto Lube
Rio Tinto Iron Ore
Tom Price, Western Australia, Australia
This project involved the design and installation of seven independent Auto Lubrication Systems along the 26km long Western Turner overland conveyor, delivering measured amounts of grease to all pulley bearings and labyrinths, drive motors and take up sheaves.
The functionality was designed to run system and to initiate alarms for controllers in the event of failure of the Auto Lube System. G&S Engineering was responsible for installation of pipework, fittings and components and liaising with shut planners and management to complete system tie-ins and commissioning over a six-month period.
- 90% of pipe work, fittings and components were safely installed around live conveyors while working at heights.
- Our team successfully managed multiple work fronts along a 26km long conveyor system.
- Tie-ins were completed during scheduled shutdowns with no extra downtime
