The Thomson Line (TSL) is a new mass rapid transit (MRT) system using Singapore’s innovative driverless six-car metro train sets and linking Northern Singapore to the CBD and Marina Bay shopping precincts. The first station on the S$18b line will be Woodlands North running all the way to join with the East Coast line.
Running for 30km underground, the line will deliver 22 new passenger stations, as well as six interchange stations that will link with Singapore’s existing MRT network. The new line is estimated to cater for up to one million commuters per day, reducing travel time by half.
Calibre is providing construction engineering and supervisory services for the project, which will be delivered in a staged approach over six years.
Stage 1 involves construction of three new stations to be completed by 2019. Stage 2 provides an additional six stations by 2020. The final stage will deliver the remaining 13 stations, which are set to be fully operational by 2021.
Calibre is also providing construction engineering and supervisory services for the Land Transport Authority’s Tuas West MRT Extension.
