The construction of APA’s new 7.2km gas transmission main on the southern fringe of Adelaide CBD was aimed at completing a ‘ring main’ that would provide security of supply and additional capacity to consumers in the southern part of the Adelaide network.
Stakeholder management is key
Liaison with stakeholders was paramount. Our team worked closely with APA to coordinate the field crews and the local community, four local councils, the road and rail authorities, and various other stakeholders to ensure the impact of the project on the community was minimised.
The project also involved managing complexities associated with environmental management of the avenue trees and traffic control as works involved 2km direction drilling under major intersections, railways and a creek, and were carried out in view of 40,000 motorists daily.
The pipeline was constructed to the highest quality specification. By the end of the project, our team had collated detailed construction records and test results for nearly 1,000 individual welds to submit to APA as part of the manufacturer’s data report.
